I spend a lot of time online. OK, I said it and I admit it. I love the interaction and the camaraderie of it all. I love to find the answers myself, and in real time instead of me anguishing over it for hours and hours. I do research, find deals and try to stay informed. I use my online time, to get things done! Or, so I tell myself.
Like many of you, I also like the internet, and spend my time there for other reasons. I like to spend time reading Facebook posts, often spending too much time and wasting my day in many instances when I should be doing more important things. I post comments on other sites, read blogs, and of course I update OutMaturity as well as couple other blogs that I have. I even try to find love online!
OK, that was a HUGE admission for me. Not that I don’t share with others, but that I am trying to find love, not just lust or like. Like many I still believe that it can happen to me, so I use every site that I can to try to find it. I won’t even admit how many memberships I have had over the years to do just that. IT hasn’t yet, and honestly I have probably paid rent for many sites that I visit, for months at a time!
What I have been noticing lately that on the mainstream sites such as Match.com, that we are sharing more and more shirtless picks of ourselves. The posts are getting more graphic in their content, and I guess as long as it is in within the realm of what is allowed on Match, they do let it be posted.
I have been wondering why though? Why do we feel compelled to take our shirts off, just to get a date? I mean, sure on the hookup sites and apps such as Grindr and Manhunt, I expect to see it there, but on Match and other personal sites? Do we feel so threatened by the idea of dating on personality and profile alone, that we feel that we need to put it all out there?!
I haven’t ventured there yet, and I am unsure if I ever will. I’m not the type to share my wares for all to see, even if it might get me a date or more!
